Playing with Zimmerman Purple Rose powder again. This powder reacts so well with opal yellow. There isn't a lot of this powder left. If you are wanting to get some I still have some for sale in my etsy store.
We are all just kicking back this Christmas afternoon. Whit is watching the Cowboys Football game on his new 55" TV! I am updating my blog on my new 11" Macbook Air! What an incredible machine this is. Santa was very good to us this year!
Santa also brought me a 24 kt gold pen plating system! I can't wait to start adding 24 kt gold accents on some of my jewelry. We received all kinds of other wonderful gifts as well.
We feel very blessed to be able to spend our holidays with family and friends... here's wishing you all a very merry christmas!
What a great week we have had! Having my family around is the best Christmas present one could ask for!
I am looking forward to give bead making a try next week along with some silver work... I hope my hand is ready... I have a lot of Christmas orders and presents that I need to get going on. Who said that Christmas presents have to be delivered by Christmas?!?!
I hope you are all enjoying your holiday week! Spread the Love!
Tonight is the winter solstice, and you don't have to be a wearer of crystals and a worshiper of Stonehenge to enjoy it because this year, the winter solstice also brings a pretty lunar eclipse. Occurring between 2:40am and 4am EST and visible from all of North America, Central America and the very top of South America, tonight's celestial event will bring out more than a few sky-watchers. During the time that the Earth's shadow passes over the moon, the moon is set to glow a deep red or orange.
We are all looking forward to hopefully being able to view this tonight...... if nothing else we will be out howling and dancing!
Whit and I helped out at a local crafts show today. We helped our friends Michael Barley and Michelle Stay by manning the Community Bowl Project booth. Be sure and click on this link and read about this wonderful project....
Making progress in the studio! Whit and Charlie put up some new cabinets and shelving units in the studio for me this last weekend. I am almost finished organizing.... finally! Tomorrow I plan on working some more on my galaxy bead tutorial. Whit is going to take some photos for me tomorrow as long as my hand will allow me to work. It may take a few days to get all the photos... in the meantime I am working on the layout. I am hoping to have it finished by the weekend! We will see.
A few new cabinets above the sink..... and new 7' cabinet next to it...
Miss Towanda inspecting the work!
Today I enjoyed the day working at The Port Townsend Gallery! It is "THE" Gallery to be in in Port Townsend. It felt great re-connecting with so many people today...... just like old times. I am looking forward to putting my work in there. I will have a few beads and some jewelry in time for Christmas. Stop by and check us out!
I found this photo on the internet and am in love with it! It got me thinking of doing a tutorial of my galaxy bead. It would be a 2 part tutorial. The first part would be a pre-galaxy bead teaching you how to get the fuming just right. Then the second part of it would be making a galaxy bead from start to finish.
I am thinking of having Whit photograph me this week and hopefully have it available next week in my etsy store.
Let me know what you think of this idea..... or of any other tutorials you would like.
While in Seattle this last weekend we went to Vetri Glass Gallery . I had seen this piece when my friend Ilana was here visiting..... it was still there. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it and felt the same way again. Maybe when I go back for a girls Christmas weekend in Seattle, and if it is still there, it may be just meant to be taken home with me!
Today I am celebrating! My second cast is officially off and I have got the OK from my doctor to start using my hand. So of course first thing I did was come home and put together more of my book case units from Ikea together. I am really looking forward to finishing up this project I started and get back to making some jewelry! I will start with little projects and making small beads for a few weeks and work into larger pieces slowly. Also am really looking forward to the gym again!
Winter wonderland here in Port Townsend today! We have received about 5" of snow at our house and much more around town. We went out and about today to take some photos and saw several cars in the ditches ... Christine was supposed to fly out today but we were unable to get her to the airport! A friend of ours tried to get to the airport and they left at 9:30 this morning and as of 1:00 they have still yet to make it to Tacoma!
Sculpture right outside my studio window at our neighbors house.
It is still snowing and to add to that we now have winds with gusts up to 45 mph here at our home. We are hoping that the power stays on!
