Wildlife Habitat

Earlier in the year Whit topped off some of our trees that were getting very overgrown! Instead of throwing them over the bluff (which builds up the bluff) or taking them to the dump to be turned into compost he decided to make a wildlife habitat for our little critters. When he had cut them down he noticed a lot of birds flying in and out of the brush...... I think that is what gave him the idea......

So he bought a waterproof tarp and some camouflage paint and asked me to paint the tarp....

I had fun painting it!!!!!

Whit then put down several large stumps on the ground and then a layer of the tree limbs and then the tarp and then more tree limbs. Since then we have seen many birds, squirrels and raccoons coming and going from there..... It makes us happy knowing that they have a nice dry place to lay their heads at night!!!

I will try to get some photos with some of the critters there!

That is very cool. It makes such a lovely change to read about someone creating habitat for wildlife instead of tearing it down. Very nice work Andrea and Whit, that really made my day.

What a great idea! It's so nice to see people doing something for Mother Nature's little critters. They need all the help they can get! Great job you two! :)

Cheers

What a wonderful thing to do. I'm looking forward to the photos. Those critters are lucky to have friends like you two.

This is wonderful! (if someone tried this in their back yard where I live they'd get a letter from the city to remove the rubbish)
